New Year

Happy New Year! Well, at least for runners. It's time to dust off those spandex, shake out those legs and glide your feet into a fresh pair of kicks. The days of short interval workouts have long passed and that oh so bittersweet 14 day period known to year-round distance runners has just come to a close. As cross country season approaches, distance men and women have the summer months and all of the autumn season to prepare. But let us not be complacent having six months of the year to be fully cocked and loaded for that championship race. Cross country is the most grueling season, spanning half a year and requiring the most mileage. The sport demands much from its competitors. To be considered a serious cross country athlete one must have the heart of a lion; one must possess the mental/emotional poise of a fierce beast chasing down its prey. Now is the time; as Muhammad Ali once said "The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights". Get out and Run. Happy training to all!
